MACHINE
Concept2 was founded by Dick
and Peter Dreissigacker in 1976. Fresh from Olympic training, the two
brothers designed and created prototypes of carbon fiber racing oars,
and went on to create the world's first wind-resistance indoor rower out
of old bicycle parts.
The Dreissigacker Racing
Oars are now used by more than 70 percent of the rowing community. The
Concept2 Indoor Rower has been redesigned and upgraded three
times since the Model A was introduced in 1981. Today's Model D,
introduced in July 2003, builds on Concept2's 27 years of experience in
designing and using rowing machines. |

The new model, which sits higher off the
ground for easier accessibility and includes a number of advanced
technological features, will be available starting September 1. The
Model E builds on four generations of successful rowing machines over
Concept2's 30year history, and will be offered alongside the current
Model D.
Concept2 cofounder Dick
Dreissigacker notes that "this is the first time Concept2 has offered
users a choice of indoor rower models," a change he says was motivated
by an increase in the popularity of indoor rowing and to fill a wider
range of user needs. "In designing the Model E, we listened to fitness
club owners who suggested that their members are more comfortable
exercising on a device that is higher off the floor," said
Dreissigacker.
